How to properly apply bronzer for a sun-kissed look

Bronzer is a makeup staple for achieving that coveted sun-kissed glow, especially during the colder months when we’re missing our summer tans. However, if applied incorrectly, bronzer can leave you looking muddy or overly bronzed. Here are some tips on how to properly apply bronzer for a natural and radiant look.

First, choose the right shade of bronzer for your skin tone. It’s important to select a bronzer that is only two shades darker than your natural skin tone to avoid looking fake or orange. If you have fair skin, opt for a light, peachy bronzer. For medium to tan skin tones, a golden or coppery bronzer works best. Those with deeper skin tones should go for a richer, chocolate bronzer.

Next, prep your skin by applying primer, foundation, and concealer as usual. Bronzer should be applied as a finishing touch to warm up your complexion, so make sure your base is flawless before adding bronzer.

To apply bronzer, use a fluffy powder brush to pick up a small amount of product. Tap off any excess to avoid applying too much at once. Start by applying bronzer to the high points of your face where the sun naturally hits—cheekbones, temples, bridge of the nose, and jawline. Avoid applying bronzer all over your face as this can result in a heavy and unnatural look.

When applying bronzer to your cheekbones, suck in your cheeks to find the hollows of your cheeks and apply in a diagonal line from your ear to the corner of your mouth. This will create a natural shadow effect and define your cheekbones. Blend out any harsh lines with a clean brush to ensure a seamless finish.

For a sun-kissed look, don’t forget to apply bronzer to your neck and dĂ©colletage to ensure an even and cohesive finish. This will help to create a more natural and summery glow.

To finish off your bronzed look, you can add a touch of highlighter to the high points of your face for an extra radiance. Opt for a champagne or gold highlighter to complement your bronzed skin.

Remember, less is more when it comes to bronzer. It’s easier to add more product if needed than to remove excess product. With these tips and tricks, you can achieve a natural and sun-kissed look that will have you glowing all year round.
